Offense, Defense, Special Teams and Strong Goalteding

If this was October 2006 the only thing the Philadelphia Flyers had from this equation for winning was the potential for offense.

Well, this is 2007 and this is the new NHL and the Flyers have finally figured it out! Bobby Clarke is one of many sports heroes from my childhood but thank G-d he turned over the reigns in Philly! I just watched the Flyers handle the Thrashers 4-0 in Philly and it looks like the good times are about to roll on Broad Street once more.

What was already a nice offensive nucleus has been enhanced with Briere and Hartnell, amongst others, the D looked solid, the penalty kill was stifling and the attack on the power play shows potential, but the key to this formula is in the pipes and fingers crossed, Marty Biron is the answer. He looked phenomenal tonight and the team was determined to get him his shut out.

The Flyers have not opened this strongly offensively since '95 when the had Lindross and Leclair headlining the 'legion of doom' line and dare I say the goaltending hasn't been as promising since the tragic loss of Pelle Lindbergh...

I dream of seeing the Flyers clinch the Cup and do it at home, Philly fans deserve it and it's early but this team could go a long way.
